Things to do in Madison

Our gym is located on Madison’s east side and we have ample free parking available. With 5600 square feet we have plenty of room (and equipment) to host drop-ins. At Sanctify, our community is friendly and welcoming, and our staff is passionate and knowledgeable.

There are so many wonderful places and things to experience in Madison, and who better to tell you than the people who live here? So without further ado, below you will find handpicked recommendations for Madison’s best restaurants and bars, fun things to do, and local hidden gems. Enjoy!

To Do
  • Hike to Picnic Point [an easy hike that provides beautiful views of downtown Madison]
  • Rent B-Cycles from one of the many available locations and tour the city via bike
  • Rent a paddle craft at Brittingham Boats, Wingra Boats, or the Union Terrace
  • Bike along the Monona Lake Loop Trail [approx 13 miles, but you can start/stop anywhere on the trail]
  • Mountain bike at Camrock State Park [Rentals at the trailhead at Camrock Café, a 15 minute drive from downtown Madison, and trails from beginner to expert!]
  • Hike Governor Nelson State Park, Indian Lake, Blue Mounds, or Devil’s Lake [all parks within 30-40 minutes of downtown Madison]
Hidden Gems
  • Tiki Bar [Part of Eastside Club, a low-key lakeside hideaway]
  • Old Sugar Distillery [Outdoor seating, open only on weekends, but the cocktails are worth it]
  • Mickey’s Tavern [Enjoy a drink on the patio and a basket of sexy fries]
  • Pig in a Fur Coat [Upscale menu but the food is served family-style]
Short on time? These are musts:
  • Union Terrace [Enjoy the sunset over the lake while sitting in a classic brightly colored chair with a beer that you ordered from the student union!]
  • Saturday Morning Farmer’s Market on the Capitol Square
  • A stroll down State Street [local shops, several restaurants with patios]
